Legendary Tanzanian actor Amri Athuman aka Mzee Majuto Dead
Amri Athuman AKA Mzee Maji Moto, the popular actor from Tanzania, is dead. The actor, who has appeared in numerous Bongo films, passed away while undergoing treatment at Tanzania’s Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
Reports indicate that the deceased was admitted at the Muhimbili Hospital earlier this week after his condition worsened but did not make it.
In April this year, the artiste was flown to India for specialized treatment after it emerged that he was suffering from a hernia (a condition that occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place).
The 70-year-old is known for his roles in various movies including Kondakta, Mama Nitilie Movie, and King Majuto Returns Home among others.
Having started his acting career at a young age, Majuto quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most sought after thespians in Tanzania. His demise was mourned by many, including Bongo star Diamond Platnumz and Wema Sepetu.
