Tommy Davidson Biography
Tommy Davidson is an American comedian, filmmaker and television actor. He is best known as a member of the sketch comedy TV show In Living Color. He started his stand up comedy in Washington DC. He has been cracking jokes to his audiences with his stand-up routine, with celebrities like Sammy Davis Jr. and Michael Jackson.
In 1990, he rose to fame when he was cast on the hit sketch comedy show “In Living Color.” After that, he was seen in movies, doing voice overs for cartoons and headlining special comedy all over the country. But it’s hard to imagine that someone who’s star is so bright, to start life with such and dark time.

In 1986, Tommy Davidson started his career as a stand-up comedian when his childhood friend convinced him to perform stand-up comedy at The Penthouse strip club in Park View, Washington, D.C. He continued performing comedies in various comedy clubs throughout the Washington Metropolitan region, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.
Tommy opened concerts for Patti LaBelle, Starpoint, and Kenny G. In 1987, he performed on fundraising telethon for WHMM. In 1987, he won an amateur stand-up competition at the Apollo Theater. Soon afterward, he moved to North Hollywood, California, where he met Martin Lawrence, who lived in his building.
He performed at the Comedy Store for an HBO special, where Robert Townsend heard him and asked him to be a warm-up comic. He appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show, after performing at Luther Vandross and Anita Baker shows. Davidson has also appeared in various films like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Strictly Business, Booty Call and Juwanna Mann.
His first major exposure came on the variety show In Living Color, where he has played various characters, including his impersonations of Sammy Davis, Jr., Michael Jackson and Sugar Ray Leonard, and child victim Homey D. Clown. He was a guest of Cartoon Networks Animated action talk show he played so many roles in Black Dynamite.
He reprised his role in Adult Swim television show of the same name. Davidson released an Illin in Philly, a VHS tape of a stand-up performance in 1991, and which was aired in regular times on Comedy Central in the 1990s, and “On The Strength”, another stand-up performance, this time filmed in New York City. He has also appeared in the films like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Strictly Business, Booty Call and Juwanna Mann.
He has provided the voice for Oscar Proud, the father in the Disney animated series The Proud Family. He was also a recurring character on MADtvs Real M*****F***ing Talk sketches. Davidson hosted Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, the show with amateur acts trying to make names for themselves. He has also been a guest in the episode of Cartoon Network’s animated/live-action talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
In 2002, Davidson did commercials for Pizza Hut and by talking the “P’Zone Revolution”. In 1997, he starred the short-lived TV series Between Brothers with Kadeem Hardison, Kelly Perine, and Dondre Whitfield. Most recently, Tommy Davidson played the role of Cream Corn in Black Dynamite. Tommy reprised his role in the Adult Swim television show of the same name.
Tommy Davidson appeared in an episode of the TV show of Martin playing the role of fictional talk-show host Varnell Hill (a parody of Arsenio Hall). His (adopted) mother just saw what happened to be walking by that trash pile at the right time and saw his tiny foot sticking out and quickly got him to the hospital. Tommy’s mom who raised him, something told her to look behind this tire that was in a pile of trash, and she saw my foot,” Tommy said.
Tommy Davidson had major contusions and fractures to his skull at that time, leaving the doctors to wonder if he would even survive. Tommy said he was officially adopted by his family when he was two years old. After a short time, his family moved to D.C. and this is what Tommy talked about: “We moved to Washington, D.C., in the week that Martin Luther King Jr. was shot.
