Frank Cozzolino, the electrician who became a familiar face to HGTV viewers on Holmes on Homes and its spin-off shows, has died at the age of 56.
He died in Toronto on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after sudden complications related to long-standing liver problems. His longtime friend and co-star Mike Holmes confirmed the news in emotional posts and videos on Instagram.
“I am devastated by the passing of my good friend Frank Cozzolino,” Holmes wrote. “Frank made us better. His impact will live on in every home he helped. Frank could walk into the toughest electrical disaster, crack a joke in his style, and suddenly the whole room felt lighter. That’s just who he was.”
Holmes said Cozzolino had “gone through hell” in recent years. Around six years ago, he underwent a liver transplant. When that liver later failed, he needed a second transplant. Holmes said it was “touch and go” and that at one point they feared he would not survive, but Cozzolino pulled through before a recent complication led to his death on December 4.
In a statement, HGTV said, “We are deeply saddened to hear of Frank Cozzolino’s passing. Frank was an exceptional craftsman whose kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication touched every project and every person he encountered.”
Cozzolino’s relationship with Holmes dates back more than two decades. Holmes has often recalled that Cozzolino walked onto the very first Holmes on Homes job in 2003, when the series was new and money was tight. Holmes told him there was little budget to pay him. Cozzolino agreed to help anyway because he wanted to fix dangerous electrical work and protect homeowners.

That first job turned into a working relationship that lasted more than 25 years. Cozzolino was credited in 29 episodes of Holmes on Homes between 2003 and 2009 and later appeared on Holmes Inspection, Holmes Makes It Right, Holmes Family Rescue, and Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy. Viewers knew him for clear explanations, strong technical skills, and a dry sense of humor on site.
Holmes has also shared that Cozzolino once helped save his life while they were working abroad. Holmes fell seriously ill with E. coli and was bedridden for days. Cozzolino kept searching for help until he found the right medical support and got him well enough to fly home.
Off camera, Cozzolino built a successful electrical contracting business. Born in Toronto’s Junction neighborhood, he later moved to Malton in Mississauga, Ontario. He worked several jobs before founding Solutions Electrical, which grew into a busy company that reflected his work ethic and persistence.
For viewers, he was the calm, good-natured electrician who could turn a dangerous wiring job into something safe. For Holmes and the crew, he was family.
“Frank wasn’t just good at what he did — he really cared,” Holmes wrote. “He cared about doing it right. He cared about the people he worked with. He cared about every homeowner he helped. Frank will forever be part of the Holmes family. Miss you buddy.”
Frank Cozzolino is survived by his partner, Lisa, and his daughters, Filomena and Alexandria.
